Resilient Connections 2.0

This workshop focused on fabrication techniques based in sustainable joinery. Students explored Japanese joinery methods, which allow for assembly and disassembly without material failure, and developed connection strategies across different scales. At the same time, they investigated how individual timber elements could be assembled to generate form through various algorithmic approaches, including stochastic aggregation, L-systems, and cellular automata. In the initial phase, each team conducted studies on smaller components using a range of joinery techniques. In the later phase, two teams collaborated as a single group to build a larger-scale pavilion structure.
